| WEATHERSEALS AND CELLULAR PRODUCTS
HERLENE® EPDM is recognised world wide for
outstanding performance in weatherseals and cellular (sponge) products. A wide selection
of Herlene polymers have been specially developed to provide optimum physical properties
and superior surface finish for EPDM weatherseal and cellular goods. Applications
including: automotive single and dual durometer weatherseals, construction (building)
weatherseals, appliance seals, sheet sponge, protective tubings, drum seals and
other uses.
HOSE
Outstanding resistance to
temperature extremes, water absorption, anti-freeze and acid and alkali attack
make HERLENE® EPDM perfectly suited to meet the
demanding requirements of a variety of high quality hose applications for use in
automotive, appliance, and industrial markets.
WIRE & CABLE AND
MOULDED ELECTRICAL GOODS
HERLENE EPDM polymers offer
outstanding performance in wire and cable and other electrical applications. HERLENE® EPDM compounds can be formulated to provide optimum physical,
electrical and ageing properties, combined with excellent wet electrical, flame and
treeing resistance.
Electrical applications for
HERLENE® EPDM include wire and cable insulation
and jackets for power distribution, residential, automotive and appliances, as well as
moulded plugs and connectors. Heat, sunlight, ozone and chemical resistance make HERLENE® EPDM the polymer of choice for an ever increasing number of
applications.
TYRES &
TUBES
HERLENE®
EPDM, in blends with high diene polymers such as NR, PBR and SBR, has demonstrated its
usefulness in tire compounds to impart improved heat and ozone protection. HERLENE® EPDM is also a common component in white sidewall stocks due to its
ability to function as a nonstaining antiozonant. The addition of HERLENE® EPDM to an
inner tube stock imparts increased green strength, as well as improved heat and ozone
protection. Consequently , tube growth also gets arrested.
TYRE FLAPS
High heat resistant, non
sticky and crackless flaps made with 100% HERLENE® EPDM
protects tubes and consequently tyres for a long time. Service life of such a flap is more
than double the life of NR or other synthetic rubber based flaps.
THERMOPLASTICS
Blends of HERLENE® EPDM and thermoplastic polyolefin resin function as thermoplastic
elastomers, which combine many of the properties of vulcanised rubber with the processing
advantages of true thermoplastics. Polyolefin thermoplastics elastomers are widely used in
a variety of automotive applications including exterior rub strips, claddings and sight
shields.
HERLENE® EPDM is also an effective modifier of
thermoplastic polyolefin resins. The addition of EPDM to polypropylene or polyethylene
imparts improved low temperature impact properties, as well as superior flexibility,
resilience, impact and stress crack resistance.
MECHANICAL GOODS
Abrasion and chemical
resistance, resilience and excellent heat ageing characteristics make HERLENE® EPDM an outstanding choice of a vast number of mechanical goods
applications that include diaphragms, insulator, seal and other high quality components
requiring optimum dynamic properties.
SINGLE PLY ROOFING MEMBRANES :
Excellent weather and water
resistance of single ply roofing membrane made from HERLENE®
EPDM makes it to be an ideal choice for water protection of roofs. Membranes can be
suitably adhered to roof top to provide water protection.
VISCOSITY INDEX
IMPROVER : ( VII)
HERLENE® EPDM is an ideal material for VII for
lube oils . It is readily soluble and exhibits very good shear stability index in lube
oils.
